Lock Down Drill Tomorrow, 1/16
r Tom McCall Families,
Safety is our top priority. On 1/16/26 at approximately 1:30, our school will conduct a planned Lockdown/earthquake drill as part of our ongoing emergency preparedness. These drills follow the “I Love You Guys” trained procedures to help staff and students practice how to stay safe, stay calm, and reunite if needed.
What to expect for your child:
Teachers will explain the drill in age‑appropriate language and remind students of the steps they will practice.
The drill will last about 3-5 minutes. Students will remain supervised at all times.
No real emergency is happening — this is a practice to help everyone be prepared.
How you can support your child:
Please remind your child that drills are practice to keep everyone safe.
For younger children, simple language works best: “We practice rules for staying safe. Today is a practice.”
If your child has specific needs (medical, mobility, or other accommodations), please contact the school in advance so staff can plan appropriately.
Will parents be able to observe or pick up during the drill?
For safety and to keep the drill controlled, we cannot allow visitors in instructional areas during the drill.
Regular pick‑up and drop‑off routines will resume after the drill unless otherwise communicated.
Questions or concerns: If you have questions about the drill, your child’s safety plan, or need to update emergency contact information, please contact the main office.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school safe.
